When I still lived with my parents I used to look forward to the Christmas breakfast. We ate a Christmas stollen with dairy butter, sugar bread and croissants. Very delicious of course, but afterwards I always had a huge dip and felt exploded. Not very strange if you start your day with that many sugars and fats. But I did not know that at that time. But almond paste really is my guilty pleasure. And I know who I got that from. I know a story that my mum came downstairs on Christmas morning and there was a tunnel in the stollen. My dad had eaten the complete paste out of the bread after his night shift haha. Unbelievable, but honestly it did sound like something my dad would do.
As you know I am living a much more healthy lifestyle now and that many sugars don't fit in this lifestyle. Last year was our first Christmas breakfast in our own home and that went perfect. I made a delicious variant of the Christmas stollen and wanted to make it again this year. Not only to be able to share this with you.
