Like I wrote in an earlier blog I have a full time job and I have to get up early for that. I love breakfast, but time is usually an issue in the morning. In the weekends I take all the time I need to make lovely breakfast recipes, but on working days I do not want to wake up earlier than 06.00 to make breakfast. That is why I love this granola recipe.
What is the difference between muesli and granola? I used to get my muesli at the grocery store until I found out how many added sugars there are in this muesli. Besides the fact I thought I was eating a healthy breakfast, I really wasn't unfortunately. On Facebook I saw more and more granola, but I didn't really know what it was.
Until last year I went to New York with my parents and sister. We were sitting in an indoor market place and you could bring your own food. My father and sister went to a food truck and bought Gyros and a hotdog. I had been eating really unhealthy that week and couldn't find much healthy hotspots unfortunately. But there was also a small stall inside the market place and I saw they had home made granola. This was my chance to check it out. I really loved this!!
When I came home I did some more research and I found out that granola is roasted and muesli isn't. That is exactly what makes the taste of the granola so good. I searched online for nice granola recipes and found this one. You can make the granola to your own taste by adding ingredients that you like or remove ingredients that you don't like. You can also decide with what you want to combine your granola. You can choose yogurt or cottage cheese, but also with almond milk it is delicious.
Preparation time: 15 minutes
Baking time: 20 minutes
Amount: 1 big jar (approximately 750 grams)
This recipe is not 100% organic, because the organic nuts are not available. All the other ingredients in the recipe are organic.
After 20 minutes you can enjoy your lovely granola. This granola is delicious in your yogurt or almond milk, but it is also very nice in a smoothie bowl. Enjoy! You can save the granola for 1-2 weeks in an airtight jar.
