Healthy Hotspot - In de Bakkerij Goes
"The baker learned the art of baking in France and even surprised the homeless with her bakery products a whole year long on her way home from school."
Healthy Hotspot In de Bakkerij (In the Bakery) in Goes. This healthy hotspot is the place for a nice and quiet Sunday morning breakfast. But you can also buy your bread for the week here.
I know In the Bakery for a while now, almost 2 years ago Jens and I moved in together in Kruiningen. We just had the keys and a friend of mine came to help us on a Saturday evening. Because it was already late and she had quite a drive home, she decided to stay to sleep. The next morning she wanted to surprise us with a breakfast with fresh bread and croissants, but unfortunately we live in a village where everything is closed on Sunday. After some searching on Google we found out that there was a Bakery that was opened on Sunday Morning which was in Goes. So we ended up at In de Bakkerij and they had a lot of lovely things. So we went home with croissants, breads and a strawberry cake haha.
Nowadays I can't even imagine a life without this Bakery haha. The bread they bake and sell here is that tasty and healthy it keeps you coming back for it. I buy my bread always here and sometimes even have breakfast with Jens here.
Like I said the bread at In de Bakkerij is homemade and freshly baked. The breads are baked on a stone oven floor, after they have risen for a long time. The bread is real sourdough bread made of pure ingredients: sourdough, sea salt, revitalized water and the best flour. The baker learned the art of baking in France and even surprised the homeless with her bakery products a whole year long on her way home from school. That is what I call charity. The sourdough is homemade and almost all breads are made with it and if it is not made with it, they use organic yeast, but that only happens rarely.
The sourdough is homemade which makes it unique and that makes the breads unique. They process the sourdough in a way it gives the breads an amazing delicious flavor and prevent it from tasting 'sour'. All the bread is handmade and formed, because the dough is very sensitive, which asks for handwork. They use as much organic products as possible and the bread only consists of 3-4 ingredients (flour, water, salt and sometimes a 'secret' ingredients, which always has a natural origin).
Like I said you taste the passion and love in the bread.
Besides the fact this is a really good Bakery with delicious bread, which you can buy, you can also have a nice seat at in de Bakkerij. They have several tables and some even have a direct view into the kitchen. It is a nice place to sit and enjoy a breakfast, lunch or cake. I had a date with a friend of mine on a Sunday morning. Unfortunately in Middelburg and Goes a lot of restaurants are closed on Sunday mornings, but not In de Bakkerij. I found it really nice to be here on a Sunday morning, you can enjoy a lovely breakfast (croissants, bread, fresh orange juice and an egg, including coffee or tea), but also a nice cup of coffee. The atmosphere is very relaxed and you notice people getting relaxed. That atmosphere really fits perfectly with a lazy Sunday morning and that is very relaxed to start your Sunday morning with.
So you can have a cup of coffee, breakfast or lunch at In de Bakkerij. If you look at the bread they have something for everybody: dark and light bread, organic and non-organic bread, spelt and wholewheat. And besides that they have the 'special' breads, of which the rye/nuts/raisins bread is my absolute favorite, but the fig/nut/ciabatta bread is also worth a recommendation.
You can feel the passion for good, healthy food and pureness everywhere. And they thought of every detail. The space is very warm, cosy and has a nice atmosphere. And even the pattern on the floor has cookies, cakes, grains and coffee.
All by all this really is a nice place to relax and enjoy.
You can find In de Bakkerij at the Wijngaardstraat 50 in Goes (with a parking space across the street). For more information you can have a look at their website.
