Healthy Hotspot - The lifestijlkamer in Goes
"I find this a very cool place, where everything is about health, a healthy lifestyle and most of all feeling good."
Healthy hotspot, de Lifestijlkamer (lifestyle room) in Goes. A very nice and cosy 'living room' where you enjoy something healthy, but at the same time a small gym with personal attention, the Lifestijlkamer is a special combination.
On King's Day I went to Goes, because there was the biggest street market of the Province and as a food blogger you have to take a look there. I had the idea of going to the Juicebar afterwards, although I had my doubts if their juices were organic. When I walked to the street market, I walked by a small cafe which on the door said they had vegan, organic, sugar free and lactose free cakes, salads and juices. I wasn't sure if they were opened already, so I first went to the market. Funny by the way how many times I passed by that place and I never really noticed it before. After I found my stuff on the market, I wanted to eat something and decided to go in here.
As you can see, it really looks like a cosy living room, with not much space to sit as well. I spoke with the owner Daphne and I found out they are on this location for a year already. They started as a small gym and behind the sliding doors of the bar you still find the small gym.The advantage of this small scale gym is that there is always personal attention from the certified personal trainer. The groups are very small so that there is a lot of personal attention and the gym is also private, so you can workout withou people looking at you, what might happen in a regular gym. Do you like to workout on your own, that is also possible, because they also offer a one on one program with the personal trainer. Besides there also is a dietitician that can advise you about nutrition. A small scale approach to make sure you can really reach your goals. On the website you can find more information about the programs they offer and the pricing.
The gym turns out to be a success and a lot of people ask for healthy snacks and drinks. At a lot of gyms you see energy drinks and other unhealthy snacks with a lot of sugar. At the Lifestijlkamer they have a different approach. Everything they sell is free from refined sugars and with as many organic ingredients as possible, it is about nutrition and not about 'filling'. I enjoyed this cake with raspberries, dates and nuts and I was full for quite a while I must say. That is the big advantage of eating healthy and nutritional products, it gives you a full feeling for a long time, because it gives your body energy for the long term.
So I picked the raspberry cake, but for King's Day they also had a beautiful orange cake. This cake was gluten free, lactose free, sugar free and vegan. It was an orange/pumpkin cake with a bottom of almonds and pecans. Als a very delicious choice. They have gluten free, lactose free, sugar free and vegan cakes everyday by the way.
They only use fresh products and as many organic ingredients as possible, also in the juices. And the choices are more that just cakes. You can also come to the Lifestijlkamer for sandwiches, salads and smoothies. Not just to sit and have it there, but you can also take it with you. So you can enjoy something healthy right away after working out. I always want to eat healthy after working out, but when I arrive home I am tired or I am just too hungry to make anything haha. Than this idea is perfect, because you can take it right with you and eat it at home.
And they also have other treats. They sell for example 'kromkommersoep' which is soup made from 'distorted' vegetables, banana chips and oatmeal cookies and they have a lot more.
I went home with a perfect 'King's Day juice' for Jens. And for my job I am regularly in the neigbourhood, so I think I step by more often for a lovely juice.
I find this a very cool place, where everything is about health, a healthy lifestyle and most of all feeling good. Which is exactly what life is about for me, if you can enjoy in a healthy way, you feel much better in your skin and everything becomes even more fun.
The Lifestijlkamer is located at the M.A. de Ruijterlaan 86 in Goes. You can park your car in front of the train station, there is a big parking place and from there you walk right to the Lifestijlkamer.
