Personal blog - What does my morning routine look like? I always like it very much to read personal blogs and routines from other people, so I really hope you like to read mine as well.
I never was a morning person at all, I even used to be really grumpy and never said a word in the morning. Until we got Leyla, because you can't be grumpy with a puppy dog, even when it is 5.30 on a Sunday morning. That made me lose my bad mood in the morning. Nowadays I even set my alarm at 06.00 also in the weekends. I enjoy rest and silence in the morning and besides that you have a really long day as well and because I eat really healthy and drink a lot of water I don't feel tired even though I don't sleep really early in the weekend.
When the alarm goes off I have to get out of bed. We don't have our cellphones in our bedroom because of the radiation. I would recommend everybody to do that, you sleep much better when your cellphone is in a different room. And I do have to get out of bed to put off the alarm. That makes it easier to get up, because you don't have a choice to snooze or lay in bed a bit longer. When the alarm is off I put on my sweatpants, because I find it just a bridge to far to walk Leyla in my pajamas haha. I start the day with a glass of water with lemon juice, I use half a lemon. It is best to use lukewarm water, but we have a water filter machine which doesn't warm the water so I use room temperature water. Lemon water has a lot of proven health benefits, it starts the digestion process, improves your withstand against viruses and it helps you to lose weight. For more health benefits you can have a look here (it is in Dutch). The lemon water needs to be absorbed by the body and it is best to wait for half an hour before you start eating. For me that is the time to go outside with Leyla.
We walk through the nature the farm landscape and nobody is away yet so we are all alone. The only thing I hear is the wind, the birds and a rooster far away. To start the day mindful and relaxed I try to focus on those sounds. I am paying attention to the environment and the sounds of the environment. Leyla has to pee, poop and sniff so that means I have to wait sometimes and can focus even more on the environment. That way I start the day relaxed and mindful. When we arrive home I make her and my breakfast.
For Leyla that is really easy, because she eats the same everyday haha. For me that is a bit different because I have a different breakfast almost everyday.
Sometimes I have pancakes like here, but it can also be an oatmeal porridge with blueberries, mini pancakes, yogurt or a quinoa porridge with coconut. It really differs per day what I prefer, but some elements remain the same everyday.
If you have followed me a bit longer you know that we barely don't eat meat. When we started I noticed becoming dizzy after a few days and Jens had the same experience. That turned out to be a lack of iron, somebody I know knows a lot about healthy, natural food and he told us to eat 3(!) eggs per day, that really is a lot haha. So I started with one and sometimes two, but every morning I am having a nice boiled egg, super healthy and tasty as well.
Another lovely treat for me is my coffee. First I never really liked coffee until I started drinking cappuccino and latte macchiato, but after one cup I always have enough. Somehow my stomach gets bothered if I drink more. With our Illy coffee machine you can easily steam the (Oatly Barista) milk, so I always steam the milk make a fresh coffee and make a lovely latte macchiato with it which I enjoy very much in the morning.
Besides these 2 lovely things in the morning I also have some other things. I always make a mixture with spirulina, matcha and magnesium powder. Spirualina has a detoxing effect on your body and makes sure you have more energy and feel better. Besides that spirulina has a lot more healthy effects, you can read here or here more about it (both are in Dutch). A really healthy superfood which is not really tasty by the way, but mixed with the other two you don't really taste the flavor. If you do want to take spirulina in the morning as well, pay attention that you drink at least 1,5 liter water during the day. That way the toxins can leave your body. To make sure everything is mixed smoothly and I don't have any clumps I always mix the matcha, spirulina and magnesium in the blender with some water. Like I said I also add some magnesium, apparently a big percentage of the people have a magnesium deficiency because we don't get that out of our food very easily. Magnesium also makes sure you have mroe energy and can prevent inflammations. Besides that it also has a lot more health benefits, you can read more about that here (in Dutch). At last I add the matcha, Japanese tea powder is a bit bitter and you must like that, but I love it. The matcha also gives you an energy boost, this is the perfect energy drink haha. Matcha also contains a lot of vitamins and besides that it helps to recover your skin and has a positive effect on the blood sugar. At last I always take two omega-3 pills, they have a positive effect on the brain and concentration. Omega 3 is usually in fish oil and it is best to eat fat fish, but I really don't like fish at all and I do want to get those healthy nutrients in my body so this is a good alternative. Besides that I also have a vitamin D tablet which is good for your mental health, heart and veins and it gives you more energy. I really notice since I take all these supplements that I do have a lot more energy and feel less tired than before. While having breakfast I always read a book about personal development or spirituality to start the day inspired. I also leave my phone off until I leave for work. After breakfast I am having a shower.
Since this week I am having a cold shower in the morning and I find that quite heavy. I love a nice warm shower and love to put it a bit warmer and warmer, but I read so much about the health benefits of a cold shower that I decided to go for it. Although I even started this week I do notice it is getting easier day by day. It makes you more alert, it improves your bloodstream and it improves your withstand against viruses and diseases. At last, it depends on how much time I have before I have to leave for work, but if I do have some time left and also in the weekends I meditate in the morning for 15 minutes. I start my day with an empty mind and a relaxed feeling.
I hope you liked reading about my morning routine and now you know that I start my morning right away to feel good and to see how I can start my day in a relaxed way. And of course some mornings it will go easier than other mornings. I used to hate getting up, but now I set my alarm on time to have time to enjoy my relaxed morning routine. My alarm is always at 5.45 and I don't have to leave until 7.45 so you can see I really do take the time for my morning routine.
