Jens and I are trying more and more to get to know more information about healthy food and that works out better and better. Before we went on holiday we did a detox. Which was perfect, you could just eat (healthy of course) and took the detox drops 3 times a day from 3 different bottles. It tasted very much like alcohol, but it cleansed the liver, gall bladder, kidneys and the lymphatics. Honestly we did not notice a lot during the cure. I had spoken to people who peed green during the cure because of all the toxins that had to get out of the body. After the detox I did feel that I had a lot more energy. Besides this we also take whole food supplements. A sort of vitamin pills, but based on whole nutrients and these are not pure vitamin or mineral pills. Ours contain for example broccoli and garlic and other nutrients and also in the proportion that nature intended. Unfortunately you can not get all the nutrients you need out of your food, this is then a perfect supplement to your diet.
We also both feel that you can hear a lot about what is healthy and what not, but you have to figure it out for yourself. That is why we experiment with things to see what the effect on our body is. Last week we started a new experiment, we will not eat any meat (or chicken) for a month. Usually we eat meat or chicken at least 4 times a week, so that is a change. But I have to say so far it is going very well. We have found a lot of healthy recipes and also very much alternatives for meat. And also without them it is easy. We for example made the lasagna of Rens Kroes which is amazing. If you have a nice vegetarian recipe, you can of course send it to me. For one of the recipes of last week I needed spinach, but they only had a big bag of spinach in the store. So that is what I came home with. But honestly that was not a problem at all, because I made this lovely turmeric smoothie with it.
